Everyone who lives in Warren and, quite possibly, everyone who visits family in Warren during the Holiday season will take the time to look over the Allegheny River, just East of Warren General Hospital. They look for the red reflection in the water to see if they have been turned on yet. Not familiar with this staple of Warren? Well, it’s the Warren Wishes you lighted sign. “Warren Wishes You Merry Christmas Happy New Year.

Some may think, “Wait… there are some words missing and the grammar is not correct.” My friend, you would be right. However, that is all part of the years of OUR Warren Wishes Sign. We, the residents of Warren have been through the years with this sign. There were years that we wondered how much of the sign would actually be lit up this year, what words might be missing. Recently, though, we have had a full and complete (our kind of complete) sign.
WARREN WISHES YOU MERRY CHRISTMAS HAPPY NEW YEAR
John and Michelle went out in the frigid winter air and photographed the sign. But not as most everyone sees it from across the river, all at once. We got a little up close and personal. We almost lost our fingers to frostbite but the sign has lost a few light bulbs over the year so we sacrificed.
Our Warren Wishes 2016 Series will be displayed at the Crary Gallery in Warren, PA from December 16th to December 30th at the Warren Art League’s Winter Show. There are 5 MUST SEE IN PERSON photos, mounted on repurposed tin, handcrafted by Michelle Munksgard and John Pearson.
